HEMP IS THE CROP OF THE 21 CENTURY

Harnessing hemp heritage for contemporary environmental solutions.

We restore soil, water and air through hemp cultivation and hemp products.

Some of the Earth's greatest landscapes are threatened by industrial activities, road construction, oil and gas exploration and mining. We aim to protect our planet from heavy metal and PFAs contamination, but we cannot achieve our goals alone. Find out what we do and how you can help.

Why Hemp?

Hemp, often acclaimed as the 'plant of a billion molecules', boasts unparalleled versatility across numerous industries. Its robust growth and profound environmental benefits, including effective phytoremediation and significant CO2 absorption, position hemp as a key player in sustainable solutions. Discover how this remarkable plant is shaping a greener, cleaner future.

We revitalise marginal landscapes with hemp

• Focus: Specialising in transforming marginalised urban spaces into greener, healthier areas.

• Process: Initiates with detailed assessments of each site, choosing the best-suited hemp strains and conducting thorough soil testing.

• Management: From planting to harvest, we oversee each phase for maximum pollutant removal and soil enrichment.

• Collaboration: Partnering with Belgian universities and government bodies for research-backed, policy-aligned approaches.

Our primary aim is urban soil remediation, though we’re equipped to handle any soil type. Our team ensures that every urban project not only becomes pollution-free but also fosters a rich, sustainable environment prepared for future use by the citizens or businesses. Our ambition is to create urban areas where nature, energy production and city life coexist harmoniously.

Hemp is an environmental champion

  • CO2 Absorption

Hemp mirrors a young forest in its carbon sequestration capabilities, absorbing up to 15 tonnes of CO2 during its 6 month growth cycle, and partially transferring this carbon to the soil

  • PFAs and heavy metals remediation

Cleanses soil by extracting harmful PFAs and heavy metals such as Copper, Lead, Zinc, and Cadmium, sequestering them in roots and leaves while keeping the rest of the plant uncontaminated

  • Biodiversity and erosion control

Its dense growth pattern provides a thriving habitat for a diverse range of organisms, while its robust root system stabilises soil, preventing erosion and promoting healthier land ecosystems

Pioneering a Green Energy Future with Hemp

In Europe’s quest for energy independence, hemp emerges as a key solution. Our approach elevates hemp beyond a plant to a pivotal element in renewable energy. Hemp, after revitalising the soil, is converted into biomethane, biodiesel, or bioplastics, propelling a major leap towards self-sustaining, and truly ecological energy.

Our mission extends beyond mere production; it’s about revolutionising the energy landscape through gradual integration and collaboration. Harnessing hemp’s capabilities, we’re fostering community empowerment and self-reliance across Europe.

Revolutionary bio composites with Dual Functions

At HempHuis, we are pioneering the use of industrial hemp as an innovative bio-based resource for developing composites and plastics. We hold the conviction that biomaterials have the potential to incrementally supplant petroleum-derived plastics. Our dedication extends to the fabrication of biocomposites that are strengthened with hemp fibers.
